2007!

Today during church I was accenting the sermon that I was hearing with a quick reading of Abraham’s life of faith.  It really struck me of how easy it was for him to just do the things that God told him to do.  The way the Lord told him to sacrifice his son, and Abraham had the intentions of doing it because God told him to, the way he leaves his family and roots to go to the place God told him to go.  It seems so easy to me, if God told me audibly, “hey, do this, seriously” I would do it.  If he audibly told me to move to Pakistan or Iraq, it seems as if I should, because I audibly heard the Lord tell me that and I know that is what he wanted me to do.  It’s hard to remember that, though God chooses not to speak to us audibly, he still speaks to us loudly through his word and through prayer.

It always puts weird and possibly spiritually immature thoughts in my mind, like, because God spoke audibly, does that mean it was much easier to follow him? Does it seem to be “harder” and “more work” to follow after him now rather than get commands from him that our ears could hear? One could point to Jesus and the commands he left for the church leaders of that day, but in their mind, he wasn’t “God”  He was just Jesus of Nazareth, a carpenters son.  It’s crazy to me, and I will have to dig in more to the stories of the leaders of the Old testament to get more examples.

changing the subject..

I’ve found that no one really enters a state of reflection when coming to the end of a year, so I will carry the torch and reflect on the year that was.  These are 10 things that happened to me in 2007 that blew my mind:

10. Started this blog
9. Seeing a lot of my friends experience the joy of marriage
8. Hungout for a weekend in San Diego
7. Viva Las Vegas! (for work.)
6. Leading worship for 1100+ kids at Anaheim ‘07
5. Moved into this complex
4. Bought this car
3. Graduated from University
2. Started work

and the #1 thing that blew Paul’s mind

1. Dating her
or this video! (sorry for the bleeps, at least it’s bleeped.  I can’t imagine Peyton Manning swearing that much anyway)

Back in the U.S.S.R.

Those musically inclined would have realized that this was a title from the Beatles song. It is true that I am back in the U.S.S.R. or nowadays called, Under Sheila’s Shelter Reedley, Sheila being my mother, Shelter being her home, and Reedley being the modern day U.S.S.R.

The three days in modesto was great but long. I stayed in the fabulous 15 story monstrosity that was sticking up over downtown Modesto. I wrote to city leaders while I was there telling them they should consider changing the name of their city to Bakersifeld North. It was just like Bakersfield, a few things to do, but it’s definitely only cool to the people who grew up there. We had a hard time finding things to do downtown where we were staying, so I just enjoyed my hotel accommodation’s, they were a “dime that’s top of the line”, as this man once quoted.

I’m glad to be back home. I went to my buddy’s graduation party. While I was there, I had a good chat with this guy, and his travels around the world that are very soon coming. It’s crazy man, but he’s crazy man, so it should be really good for him.
Now that i’m home, it finally feels like Christmas. Awesome.

Here is one of my personal favorite Christmas videos from SNL. I know that I have many friends who, as myself, really support Israel as God’s chosen nation. I hope that it is not too offensive, if it offends, let me know, I will remove it.

Since it’s Christmas, you get another pointless video!!

Modesto: The land of plenty

I am going to work in Modesto for three days this week.
It’s going to be mind blowing.

I’m watching the biggest loser season finale. These people have lost a bunch of weight, they are definitely not “losers”

Scrabulous on facebook is the new hot thing right now. You should play it against me, so you can lose.

Ain’t no party like a Dedekian, George, Small & Markarian Party!

That’s right folks tonight is the Dedekian, George, Small & Markarian annual Christmas taxtravaganza! I mean party! Me and Jessica will be going and sharing in the good fellowship of my fellow bosses and co-workers. Hopefully we make it out alive.

Tomorrow, I am moving a ton of my step-grandfather’s furniture out of his house as he has started his life with some other woman. While I’ll never really see him again, I do get his furniture. Let’s call it a draw.

Last weekend there was a reunion. A reunion of people I like. A reunion of memories that made me think, hey working is cool…but freak, I miss college. This reunion = Opening night of Christmas Tree Lane. It was free and fabulous. What definitely wasn’t free, but was fabulous, was the dinner me and Jessica went to before. It was a good date.

Christmas is coming, the goose is getting fat.
..and no, I’m not the goose. (Who makes up these songs??)

P.S. I was talking with Sean Munoz of this blog, speaking of songs that make no sense. What’s up with that song, “Apple Peaches Pumpkin Pie….you were young and so was I…” What the H does that mean??

This however does make sense. Or does it? Yes, yes it does.
